abas ERP Adds Bidding/Tender, FO Editor to Its Features Set

STERLING, VA--(Marketwired - November 23, 2015) - At the abas ERP 360 Conference in Reston, Virginia, Corporate Product Manager Daniel Rau outlined a few exciting new features abas ERP is implementing. These added functions don't fundamentally alter the way abas ERP works at its core -- rather, they aim to provide a more user-friendly interface, greater customization and, ultimately, better results.

Rau discussed a number of new features that can improve abas ERP functionality. This article will discuss two of them: bidding/tender and the FO editor.

Bidding/tender improves the PO process

As it stands, purchase order creation creates a few logistical questions: How do vendors glean schedule requirements from a PO suggestion? How can a manufacturer link a PO suggestion with a order request for quotation? How can they compare these requests and work with multiple vendors? And on top of all that, how do they create the final PO?

The new bidding/tender feature from abas ERP handles those tasks by linking PO suggestions, requests for quotations, scheduling and PO creation together through a common program. The interface is intuitive and displays each vendor, the item number, the price and the date. These data points provide a clear picture of which vendor can offer the best solution. From there, the manufacturer can generate the appropriate PO.

Improvements to FO editor simplify program development

One of the primary advantages of abas ERP is its ability to be customized. The FO, or flexible user interface editor, makes this level of customization possible in a streamlined, controllable manner. Rau pointed out there are four things that make the FO editor an ideal programming tool: It is easy, transparent and fast, and it reduces errors. The latest incarnation of the FO editor also includes the following features:

  • Syntax highlighting to select individual commands, comments, buffers, etc.
  • Collapse / expand to consolidate rows or go into more detail as necessary.
  • Content assist as an auto-complete function, to suggest valid content based on what's been entered.
  • Highlighting hits for easier navigation and replacement during code refactoring.
  • Auto validation to help eliminate errors and pain points.
  • Templates for quicker set up and less detail-oriented programming.
  • Tool tips and online help.

Each of these advancements position abas ERP to better carry out its goals of providing a single software platform for all processes and operations within an organization. But these two were not the only upgrades and changes Rau referenced in this particular presentation. Stay tuned for more in-depth information on other new features.
