SENS Research Foundation Summer Scholar Program Call for Applications Open

Summer Internships Available at Leading Research Institutions

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwired - December 07, 2015) - The SENS Research Foundation (SRF), a non-profit organization focused on transforming the way the world researches and treats age-related disease, announced today that its Call for Applications for the SRF Summer Scholars Program is now open.

The SRF Summer Scholars Program offers undergraduate college students the opportunity to conduct biomedical research to combat diseases of aging such as cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer's, and Parkinson's Disease. Under the guidance of a scientific mentor, each Summer Scholar is responsible for his or her own research project in such areas as genetic engineering and stem cell research. The Summer Scholars Program emphasizes development of both laboratory and communication skills to develop well-rounded scientists who can work equally well with other scientists and the general public. Students participating in the program will hone their writing skills via periodic reports, designed to emulate text scientists must commonly produce. Additionally, a poster presentation at SRF's 2016 Rejuvenation Biotechnology conference at the end of the summer will provide students with an opportunity to put all of their newly developed communication skills into practice when they present their results to scientists from other research institutions.

The SRF Summer Scholars internships are available at world-renowned research institutions, such as the Buck Institute for Research on Aging, Harvard University, the Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute, the Scripps Research Institute, the SRF Research Center, the University of Oxford, and the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine.

The online application and full descriptions of each research project can be found at www.sens.org/2016-summer-scholars. Applications will be accepted until February 1, 2016.
