“Northeast Fishing & Hunting Show’' Coming February 12-14, 2016 to Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford


HARTFORD, Conn., Dec. 16, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The “19th annual Northeast Fishing & Hunting Show” will take place on Friday, February 12 through Sunday, February 14, 2016 at the Connecticut Convention Center at 100 Columbus Blvd. in Hartford, Conn. Show hours: Friday, February 12 from 12 noon to 8 p.m.; Saturday, February 13 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Sunday, February 14 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event is designed as a great outing for the entire family.

“Attendees will see and can purchase the newest fishing, hunting and outdoor equipment by some of the nation’s top manufacturers,” explains show organizer Kristie Gonsalves, President of North East Expos. “They can attend over 50 hours of seminars with national and regional experts, speak with charter boat captains, check out fishing boats, watch fly fishing casting and fly tying shows, see live pointing dogs and birds of prey demonstrations, and enjoy lots of interactive activities."

Connecticut’s new Record-winning 26.6 lb., 34” long blackfish will be on display, caught on October 14, 2015 by New London resident Tim Nguyen. Tim and his fishing trip Captain Bob Wadsworth will be at Captain John’s Sport Fishing Center booth throughout the show.

New this year are free appraisals of antique and collectible fishing tackle by Lang’s Auction of Waterville, NY, the world’s largest and most respected auction in the world,” says Gonsalves. “We welcome back the popular hunting and pointing dog demonstrations from Dusty W German Shorthaired Pointers of Palmerton, Penn., the live eagles, owls and hawks of Talons! Birds of Prey, an interactive Black Hawk II virtual fishing fighting chair, and the ‘Elements of Nature’ art show featuring a array of craftsmen and unique pieces in wood, antler, stone, clay, bronze, photography and taxidermy."

Other returning favorites include the Catch & Release Trout Pond for prizes, a Fly-Tying Center featuring experts demonstrating their work, NRA Laser Shooting Range, Sportsmen’s Outpost’s archery range, and a Kids’ Bass Casting Competition sponsored by the Connecticut Bass Federation.

Seminar presenters include: Wallingford’s Greg Myerson, the World Record Holder for largest Striped Bass with his winning 81.88 lbs catch (as seen on TV’s “Shark Tank”); and Del DelMastro, archery tackle hunter; Roy Leyva a/k/a “The Fish Whisperer”; TV’s Gerry Rightmyer & Steve Schicker, hosts of “Forever Wild Outdoors Adrenaline Adventure”; Al Gag; Captain TJ Karbowski; Captain Bruce Millar; Captain BJ Silva; Captain Greg Dubrule; Captain John Planeta; Capt. Dave Brandt; and wildlife biologist Peter Picone.  Fly-fishing casting demonstrators include Capt. Marla Blair and Capt. Dave Brandt. Fly-tiers include: Capt.
