With Help From Local Suppliers, FLAME Helps Disabled Veteran Get in the Comfort Zone Just in Time for Christmas

DETROIT, MI--(Marketwired - December 30, 2015) - Disabled veteran Tyrone Mosley has been without heat this winter. Luckily, temperatures in Detroit have not been as cold as in previous years. Even so, FLAME wanted to make sure that Mosley had everything he needed to stay warm throughout this unpredictable and mostly unforgiving season.

Reverend Rebecca Wilson works with the Northwest Detroit Flood Recovery Project, a local organization that helps people who were affected by last year's disastrous flood. Among those impacted was Mosley, who lost most of his belongings and saw the condition of his home deteriorate. When Wilson reached out to FLAME regarding Mosley's situation, FLAME jumped at the chance to help.

"Reverend Wilson is a tireless advocate for those devastated by last year's flood," said Charlie Fisher, General Manager of FLAME Heating, Cooling, Plumbing and Electrical. "We have been honored to partner with her to get heat back into the homes of the people who need assistance."

Mike Mower of Hydronic Supply, a Ferndale-based heating equipment supply company, provided the boiler at cost. FLAME donated a portion of that cost to install a brand new boiler for Mosley. During the installation process, the crew found asbestos, which local environmental firm BDS Environmental removed at no cost.

"Most asbestos-containing materials are safe as long as they are not disturbed and remain in good condition," said Ron Lawler of BDS Environmental, adding that many homes constructed before 1980 contain asbestos materials. "However, renovation or demolition activities will cause an asbestos-containing material to become damaged and release airborne asbestos fibers, which can be highly toxic."

FLAME, Hydronic Supply and BDS Environmental came together to help an amazing organization this holiday season and would like to encourage other local businesses and community members to get involved. For more information visit www.flamefurnace.com
