How to Find the Most Affordable Mild Cigars

CigarAdvisor.com Reports on Mild Premium Cigars With the Best per-dollar Value

EASTON, PA--(Marketwired - January 18, 2016) -  "The way I see it, affordable doesn't mean cheap, it means 'value,'" writes Gary Korb in his recent CigarAdvisor.com report on "The Most Affordable Mild Cigars." The list is comprised of 10 premium handmade cigars, all of which individually sell for under $5 apiece, which Korb says, "by today's standards is pretty reasonable." Among a handful of cigars readers will find in the report include the Arturo Fuente 8-5-8 Flor Fina Maduro, Macanudo Café Lords, Oliva Serie G Torpedo, Rocky Patel American Market Sel. Toro, and the Romeo y Julieta 1875 Cedro Deluxe No.1.

"I wanted to include cigars that were not only mild and affordable, but also varied by shape," Korb said. "A lot of cigar smokers want to try shapes other than just robustos and toros, and variety is important when learning to appreciate what's out there. Besides, the shape of a cigar also plays a part in the amount of body and strength a given cigar will have."

Another aspect of the report addresses the question: "What is mild?" From an appearance standpoint, milder cigars tend to have lighter colored wrappers, most often grown from Connecticut seed in a shady environment, as well as wrappers from Indonesia and Mexico.

There's also the question of how the cigar smoker perceives the strength or body of a cigar.

"Whether a cigar is 'mild,' or not, is a matter of personal taste, which is why sometimes cigars are ranked as 'mild-medium,' or 'medium-full,'" writes Korb. "Depending on your palate or experience, some cigars labeled by the manufacturer as 'medium' may taste very mild to you, whereas a 'mild' cigar may taste more 'full.'"

Other cigar brands represented in the report include Gran Habano, La Fontana Vintage, Occidental Reserve, Vudu, and Gispert. Some of the cigars are listed as "medium" by their manufacturers, but Korb counters this by saying, "I don't think the list is going to scare-off smokers who only want cigars that are strictly mild. Looking at it as a whole, I think they'll find some very welcome discoveries that are right in their comfort zone in terms of both price and flavor."
