PEABODY, Mass., Feb. 08, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Analogic Corporation (Nasdaq:ALOG), enabling the world’s medical imaging and aviation security technology, announced today that it has successfully concluded its European airport checkpoint trials featuring its advanced carry-on baggage computed tomography (CT) screening system. For the past 24 months, Analogic CT checkpoint systems have been evaluated at Amsterdam’s Schiphol and London Luton Airport in an effort to demonstrate next-generation screening of carry-on baggage in a high-volume passenger environment. Working closely with European regulators and airport security personnel, Analogic’s Security and Detection team was able to achieve the highest level of threat detection without removing liquids or laptops1 from the passengers’ bags.
Based on medical CT technology, the gold standard in diagnostic imaging in hospitals, Analogic’s CT checkpoint system is the only certified CT system in commercial operation in Europe. The system is approved2 for explosive and prohibited item screening without passengers having to remove their laptops or liquids from their bags. The system provides proven, automated detection technology to move passengers quickly and safely through the airport. The systems screened over one million bags during the trials at two of Europe’s leading airports. The results were considered best in class by airport security experts, with extremely low false alarms and increased throughput at the checkpoint.
