Currently Executing on First U.S. Clinical Trial Towards FDA Clearance

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI--(Marketwired - Feb 18, 2016) -

WHO: IlluminOss Medical, a privately-held, commercial stage medical device company focused on minimally invasive orthopedic fracture repair. The IlluminOss System is the world's first and only system of its kind and offers significant advantages for the treatment of osteoporotic and pathologic fractures.

WHAT: IlluminOss Medical will be exhibiting its IlluminOss System at AAOS 2016. The system utilizes a light-curable polymer, contained within an expandable balloon catheter, to achieve bone stabilization. The simple, percutaneous surgical approach enables surgeons to create a patient-conforming implant. The small diameter of the flexible catheter gives surgeons greater freedom of surgical approach. Once cured, the implant provides longitudinal strength and rotational stability over the length of the implant.

IlluminOss is currently executing on its first U.S. trial towards FDA clearance and is anticipating completion by mid-2016.The U.S. Lightfix clinical trial applies IlluminOss' groundbreaking approach to orthopedic fracture repair to the treatment of impending and pathologic fractures in the humerus due to metastatic bone disease.

Benefits from the use of the IlluminOss System in patients may include smaller incisions, shorter procedure and patient recovery times, reduced hospital stays, and lower complication rates.
