Website revamp designed to increase engagement

Spartanburg SD 1 uses new technologies to reach community members

CAMPOBELLO, S.C., March 3, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Parents and community members in Spartanburg County School District 1 will have a new view into the school system thanks to a complete revamp of its website.

School officials looked for a vendor to develop a site that allowed for collaboration among staff and increased parent engagement. Lori Vinson, Spartanburg's Technology Integration Specialist, said the tools offered by eSchoolView rose to the top.

"As a result, Spartanburg District One was able to implement a new website to aid in communicating with our parents and community," she said. "I was especially pleased that it helped me to streamline the process of updating our old website into a more appealing and user-friendly website."

The new site features a unique video banner of staff and students and has a responsive mobile companion when accessed from a handheld device. The site is built on a content management system eSchoolView created specifically for schools.

"We provide a number of tools and services — such as mobility and calendaring — to our clients so they can increase efficiency within their districts," eSchoolView's Executive Director Rob O'Leary said. "We function as an extension to the system so the administration and staff can focus more on delivering the best education it can to its students."

Spartanburg's site has new and improved navigation, calendar functions and a section dedicated to the community. It also incorporates Active Directory integration, a centralized system that manages user data, security and distributed resources while operating with other directories.

eSchoolView builds custom websites for public, private, charter and faith-based K-12 schools and creates other education management products. Its CMS platform also expands a school system's reach through the ability to embed blogs, surveys, RSS feeds, e-newsletters, podcasts and live broadcasts.

"We build custom websites," O'Leary said, "but our main goal is to build more effective relationships between school systems and their communities."

eSchoolView, which opened its North Carolina branch in the Charlotte area about a year ago, is an award-winning company based in Columbus, Ohio. Spartanburg SD 1 is the company's first client in South Carolina.

Founded in 2008, eSchoolView's revenue growth lands the company near the top third (at 1907) of Inc. Magazine's 5000 list of fastest growing privately held companies in the U.S. for the second consecutive year.
