North Central Animal Hospital's Dr. Hillary Frank Brings Premier Bird Care to Phoenix, Arizona, Community

PHOENIX, March 06, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Dr. Hillary Frank and North Central Animal Hospital are on a mission to make excellence in avian care a priority for all Arizona bird lovers. Dr. Frank is the managing veterinarian at North Central Animal Hospital and was the first veterinarian in Arizona to be certified as an avian specialist. There are only 150 board certified avian specialists in the world today and just two in the state of Arizona.

Dr. Hillary Frank has had a lifelong connection with birds and is committed to enhancing the lives of all avians. She also provides volunteer services, medical care and advanced orthopedic therapy for both native and migratory birds and raptors to assist them in being reintroduced into the wild successfully.

Dr. Hillary Frank has a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and is certified as an avian specialty Diplomate by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP). Diplomate status requires a demanding, rigorous application process and two-day certification exam. In order to be considered, veterinarians must have completed either six years of clinical veterinary practice or a residency program in addition to submitting references, professional education records, two professionally written case reports, and descriptions of practice procedures.

Dr. Frank has been at the helm of North Central Animal Hospital since 1995 as your other family doctor. The facility offers advanced diagnostic and surgical equipment for a superior level of veterinary care. High quality treatment for dogs, cats, rodents, rabbits, reptiles and ferrets is also offered in addition to premier avian care for all types of birds, including parrots, canaries, chickens, and ducks.

Dr. Frank finds that 90% of the birds she sees for illness have been sick for much longer than suspected. This is because birds rarely show symptoms of disease until it is very advanced. Because of this, Dr. Frank feels compelled to be a strong advocate for bird owners to see an avian specialist regularly, before problems progress. While many veterinarians will examine birds, you can be assured that certified specialists will provide advanced diagnostic skills and proper care.  This approach often costs less in the end by avoiding unnecessary steps that prolong illness.

Dr. Frank says, “Birds, just as dogs and cats, require regular wellness exams. Annual exams are recommended as a minimum, since many bird health issues can be prevented and treated successfully if they are caught early.”

Dr. Frank is also a general veterinary practitioner who will see cats, dogs, birds, rabbits, ferrets, reptiles, and other exotics.  In addition, Dr. Frank is an adjunct professor for the Midwestern University, College of Veterinary Medicine.
