Precision Strike Association to Present USSOCOM's James F. "Hondo" Geurts with William J. Perry Award

ARLINGTON, Va., March 8, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Precision Strike Association (PSA), an affiliate of the National Defense Industrial Association, will present Mr. James F. "Hondo" Geurts, the Acquisition Executive of U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), MacDill Air Force Base, FL, with its 2016 William J. Perry Award. The award will be presented by Dr. Paul Kaminski at the Precision Strike Annual Review (PSAR-16) on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 in Springfield, VA.

As the USSOCOM Acquisition Executive, Mr. Geurts is responsible for all USSOCOM research, development, acquisition, procurement, contracting and logistics, overseeing more than five billion dollars annually in Special Operations Forces activities. He serves as the principal advisor to the USSOCOM Commander on all acquisition and civilian matters and provides all acquisition support to USSOCOM Component Commands, Sub-unified Command and Theater Special Operations Commands.

The award is named in honor of former Secretary of Defense Dr. William J. Perry and recognizes exceptional contributions to precision strike systems in the private or public sector by an individual or team. The recipient's contributions must lead to the strengthening of national security by a direct application of precision strike capabilities to a Department of Defense system or enhance the industrial technology base for application to precision strike technology, according to award guidelines.

The Precision Strike Annual Review, taking place March 15-16, 2016, includes discussions by key decision-makers, acquisition experts, and rocket scientists on program enhancements designed for the future innovations and challenges to precision strike's way forward.
