AppliedMicro to Demonstrate the World’s First 100G PAM4 Single Wavelength Solution at OFC 2016

Innovative Low Power 16nm CMOS FinFET Solution Enables Reliable and Low Cost 100G and 400G Ethernet

SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 22, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (Nasdaq:AMCC), a global leader in computing and connectivity solutions, today announced that it will demonstrate the world’s first 100G PAM4 single wavelength solution for 100G and 400G Ethernet at the Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exposition (OFC). Attendees of OFC, taking place at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, Calif. March 20 – 24, 2016 can view live demonstrations of the technology in booth No. 3257.

This solution is built upon our proven industry-leading mixed signal and DSP technology and will fuel the upgrade cycle to 100GE and 400GE in data centers.”

Driven by the increasing need for networking bandwidth by hyperscale data centers and cloud services, the market is seeking a transition to 100GE. Single wavelength 100G PAM4 will enable the lowest cost QSFP28 100GE transceivers, in addition to the smallest form factor and lowest cost 400GE transceivers.

AppliedMicro’s 100G PAM4 single wavelength solution enhances transceiver and module reliability by reducing the number of optical components by 75 percent when compared to a CWDM4 solution. AppliedMicro’s solution is implemented in 16nm CMOS FINFET technology, and takes advantage of the company’s 56Gbaud ADC/DAC, Backplane Serdes and programmable low power DSP.
