Sharecare and AHIMA Host Twitter Chat to Help Consumers Manage Health Information, Generate Support For #MyHealthID

ATLANTA, March 22, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sharecare, the digital health and wellness engagement platform, and the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) are hosting a Twitter Chat in support of AHIMA’s MyHealthID campaign to drive consumer support for a national patient safety identifying number which would serve to assist providers in correctly identifying patients and matching their electronic health records across different health systems.

Scheduled for Thursday, March 24, from 12 to 2 p.m. ET, the #MyHealthID chat will focus on helping people understand their rights as healthcare consumers, and the best way to access and manage their health information. Several AHIMA-affiliated registered health information administrators from across the country will answer questions during the #MyHealthID chat. Other participants include experts from the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT, Johns Hopkins Medicine, HealthCorps, HealthyWomen, and Sharecare’s Advisory Board*.

As the federal government is currently prohibited from discussing a patient identifier solution, a major component of the MyHealthID campaign is driving signatures to an online petition aimed at opening discussion and encouraging public-private collaboration. AHIMA has set a goal to collect 100,000 signatures in 30 days; and the #MyHealthID chat aims to support this goal.
