Ten Year Old's Kickstarter Campaign Surpasses Fundraising Goal for Magicka Mayhem: The Card Game

Kickstarter Campaign Continues Through April 15, 2016 for National Marketing Rollout

IRVINE, CA--(Marketwired - Mar 23, 2016) - Irvine's Ethan Erickson's new card-based game, 'Magicka Mayhem: The Card Game,'  has surpassed his original Kickstarter fundraising goal launched earlier this month but will run until April 14, 2016 to raise funds for a national marketing effort. The game, developed by Ethan, began as scraps of paper and has caught the attention of game maker and marketer Paradox Interactive which included Ethan in a recent presentation at this year's Game Developer's Conference (GDC) in San Francisco. GDC is the world's largest professionals-only event of its kind. Ethan was joined by CEO Fredrik Wester onstage at a press conference Kickstarter 'Kick Off'.

"We are amazed at the interest and support we've received from Paradox Interactive. They are as passionate about making this Kickstarter a success a we are and have been instrumental in helping us turn Ethan's dream into a happy reality," said Ken Erickson, Ethan's father. "This has been quite the learning and bonding experience for our family and we are so proud of what Ethan has already accomplished. We can't wait to see where this wild ride takes us next."

Magicka Mayhem: The Card Game is a strategic card game based upon the wildly popular computer game, Magicka, as well as the game's various sequels and add-ons. In Magicka Mayhem, two to four players strategically combine Elements to create Spells to "destroy your foes, protect your friends and summon powerful creatures to fight at your side."

Unlike traditional card games, however, that focus heavily on strategic game play at the expense of adventure, humor or story, Magicka Mayhem offers deep strategic gameplay while ramping up the random craziness that Magicka is famous for. Magicka Mayhem was designed to be fun for all levels of players -- from complete card game beginners to tabletop gaming veterans -- and is intended for players ages seven on up.

"Spells can blow up in your face, save your butt from disaster or make you pee your pants with laughter," said Ethan Erickson. "I hope the game takes off like a meteor."

The Kickstarter campaign, launched on March 15, 2016, had a goal of $2,500. The project has more than surpassed that after Ethan's appearance at GDC. The campaign continues until April 14, 2016 with funds raised going towards the national marketing of, 'Magicka Mayhem: The Card Game.'
