MaxLite commended for its sustained leadership to protect the environment

West Caldwell, New Jersey, UNITED STATES

WEST CALDWELL, N.J., March 31, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recognized MaxLite with a 2016 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award for its continued leadership in protecting our environment through superior energy efficiency achievements. MaxLite's accomplishments will be recognized in Washington, D.C. on April 13, 2016.

MaxLite is receiving the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Award for the third year in a row, and fourth time overall. The company was first honored in 2009, and recognized again in 2014 and 2015, for its leadership in manufacturing products that earn the ENERGY STAR, the government-backed symbol of energy efficiency. MaxLite expanded its ENERGY STAR certified product offerings by 78 percent from 2014 to 2015, increasing its portfolio to nearly 400 ENERGY STAR certified indoor and outdoor lamps and luminaires.

"We are honored to receive the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award, and to be recognized by the EPA for the third straight year," said MaxLite President and CEO Yon Sung. "Our team remains committed to developing innovative, energy-efficient lighting solutions that increase the number and variety of ENERGY STAR certified luminaires available to the residential and commercial building markets. We are also a company strongly committed to giving back to the community through our support of Habitat for Humanity and other nonprofit organizations."

In 2015, MaxLite pledged a four-year, $1 million commitment to provide ENERGY STAR certified lamps and fixtures to Habitat for Humanity. MaxLite partnered with Habitat ReStore outlets to offer utility rebates on ENERGY STAR certified products at 130 stores nationwide in 2015, and also donated more than $300,000 in ENERGY STAR certified fixtures and lamps for the non-profit's annual Home Builders Blitz. The products were used in building 200 affordable homes for low-income households across the country in June.

Since its inception in 1992, ENERGY STAR and its partners have helped prevent a total of more than 2.4 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions. In 2014 alone, ENERGY STAR and its partners provided more than $11 billion in societal benefits due to reducing damages from climate change.

"By continued collaboration with ENERGY STAR, MaxLite is helping Americans save money, save energy, and do their part to reduce our nation's greenhouse gas emissions that exacerbate climate change," said EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy. "I'm proud to recognize MaxLite with the highest form of ENERGY STAR recognition, as the winner of the 2016 Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award. MaxLite demonstrates a strong commitment to energy efficiency and to preserving a healthy planet for future generations."

The 2016 Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Awards are given to a variety of organizations to recognize their contributions to reducing harmful carbon pollution through superior energy efficiency efforts. These awards recognize ongoing leadership across the ENERGY STAR program, including energy-efficient products, services, new homes, and buildings in the commercial, industrial, and public sectors.
