Learn How to Be a Location Independent Entrepreneur at Cleary University's Global Entrepreneurship Bootcamp in Costa Rica

HOWELL, MI--(Marketwired - Apr 14, 2016) - Cleary University today announced the launch of its new Global Entrepreneurship Bootcamp in Costa Rica. The bootcamp is focused on teaching participants the basic principles of building a location independent business. The pilot bootcamp will run August 7 through August 11, 2016. Beginning in 2017, the Global Entrepreneurship Bootcamp will run each year in late February. The bootcamp will be offered for credit to current Cleary students, as a transferable credit course to other college students and as a noncredit course for all other participants.

Over the past decade, there has been a fundamental shift in the way the world works. According to the New York Times, the number of entrepreneurs, free agents and independent contractors rose 9.4 million from 2005 to 2015. Platforms such as Upwork, Fiverr, WhatsApp and PayPal also emerged and gained popularity. The combination of increased work flexibility, global work platforms, widespread broadband internet access and affordable smartphones have made it possible to work from anywhere. Fueled by popular books like Tim Ferriss' The Four Hour Workweek, there is a growing movement of entrepreneurs seeking location independence.

The Global Entrepreneurship Bootcamp will combine experience-based learning with insight from successful location independent entrepreneurs. At the end of the bootcamp, participants will pitch their business ideas to a panel of experts. They will leave with a solid, vetted plan for a location independent enterprise.

Dr. Marlo Rencher, executive director of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship faculty chair at Cleary University, stresses the practical value of the bootcamp.

"We are really excited to offer the Global Entrepreneurship Bootcamp because it goes beyond academic theory to experience and practice," says Dr. Rencher. "The kind of freedom that comes with location independence is neither free nor is it easy, but it is achievable. We are committed to provide education that can be used to live a better life. We are especially excited to offer this education to everyone, not just our current students."

The bootcamp will be challenging, but it won't be all work and no play. Students will enjoy the natural beauty of Costa Rica through included activities like horseback riding, basking in natural hot springs, visiting the country's volcanoes and enjoying its magnificent waterfalls.

Cleary University is proud to be the first institution to offer an entrepreneurship course focused on location independence in Costa Rica. It is an initiative of the university's Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, in cooperation with CU Abroad, Cleary's study abroad programs, and GELT, a Costa Rican training company.
