Developing a Mobile App and Want to Accept In-Person Payments? Beanstream Can Help

VICTORIA, BC--(Marketwired - April 26, 2016) - Beanstream, a Bambora Company, today announced the release of the sproutPOS EMV software development kit (SDK). This software enables Android and iOS mobile applications to accept EMV chip and PIN payments in-person, without the complexities of an EMV certification.

As of October 2015, both Canada and the US have moved to EMV 'chip' cards for card-present transactions, resulting in an increased demand for EMV chip enabled payment terminals.

The sproutPOS EMV SDK aims to empower developers by removing the complexities of accepting chip and PIN payments in-person, including:

- Quick Integration in as little as a day, saving them over 2,200 person hours of EMV certification effort with a bank

- Acceptance of multiple payment options including Visa, MasterCard, Interac debit, AMEX and Apple Pay

- Secure point-to-point encryption that is fully PCI compliant with no extra compliance overhead

"Beanstream is excited to be able to offer this ground-breaking SDK to our developer community," said Grant Storry, Beanstream, a Bambora Company's Director of Mobile Products. "One integration unlocks a completely new way to transact for mobile apps across many verticals and categories."

According to the 2016 Mmetrics report, cards are the preferred payment method in Canada, with credit card spending increasing by 8.36% over the first quarter of 2015, holding a 64.66% share of purchases made. Debit sales rose by 2.57%, representing a 35.34% share of total card spending. Allowing customers to pay using the card in their wallet, without complicated card registration processes in the app, gives mobile apps who offer in-person card processing an advantage.

Developers can now access a new source of revenue with Beanstream's flexible commission plan, which is linked to app user's card processing volume. The sproutPOS EMV SDK delivers on Beanstream's commitment to being Your Partner in Payments®, and is just one of the many new tools that Beanstream has released to provide developers an edge when competing in the global marketplace.
