Transwestern’s “Wish Upon a Star” Event Raises $33,000 for National Charity Partner, Make-A-Wish®

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., June 06, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Transwestern’s South Florida office today announces on the evening of May 11 it held its “Wish Upon a Star” event, a fundraiser and cocktail reception launching its year-long partnership with Make-A-Wish®, as well as Make-A-Wish Month in Southern Florida. Held at 110 Tower, located at 110 SE Sixth St. in downtown Fort Lauderdale, the event raised $33,000 in a single evening, bringing Transwestern’s South Florida office more than halfway to reaching its $50,000 fundraising goal. The tower is lit blue (the signature color of Transwestern and Make-A-Wish) each evening through May 31 to celebrate Make-A-Wish Month and this national partnership.

“We want to issue a heartfelt thank you to all who attended and gave so generously during the ‘Wish Upon a Star’ event,” said Transwestern Senior Managing Director Ben Eisenberg, who sat on the Board of Directors for 12 years, including a year as board chair. “It’s a true honor and pleasure to work with people who care so deeply about their community. The event would not have been possible without the dedication of our South Florida Management Services team, led by Andi Lopez.”

Lopez, senior vice president, and Ellen Rivera, general manager, led the event by soliciting support and sponsorship from tenants, vendors, colleagues and friends of the firm. More than 150 guests gathered in 110 Tower’s ballroom where they were treated to an assortment of appetizers from The Capital Grille Ft. Lauderdale, a private chef and caterers. Republic National provided Little Black Dress wine and signature Brugal and Macallan cocktails prepared by award-winning master mixologist Anita Bogacz from Stache 1920’s Drinking Den. The event also featured an organist, a raffle and a silent auction.

A highlight of the evening was when the Goldman family shared their compelling experience as a beneficiary of Make-A-Wish. Other notable attendees included Norman Wedderburn, president and CEO of Make-A-Wish Southern Florida; David Coddingdon, Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance; and members of the Make-A-Wish Southern Florida Board of Directors.

Transwestern recently announced its national corporate partnership with Make-A-Wish to support the organization’s purpose to grant wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions. “Wish Upon a Star” kicked off the partnership in the South Florida market. All funds raised benefit Make-A-Wish, helping to create extraordinary experiences for children. Event sponsors included Lifestyle Media Group, SFBW, Republic National, Macallan, Brugal, Little Black Dress and The Capital Grille.
