World Energy Efficiency Services Launches Solar Division

Entry into Solar Market Reflects Growing Demand for Company’s Services; Solar-Industry Veteran Dan Gorrell to Lead New Group

WORCESTER. Mass., June 28, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- World Energy Efficiency Services, a leading provider of turn-key energy-efficiency services in New England, today announced it has launched a new solar division, bringing customers the benefits of renewable energy and the savings and control that comes with on-site generation. By offering solar services, from project planning through final installation, World Energy Efficiency Services further expands its best-in-class design-and-build energy-efficiency services, making it the premier one-stop-shop for area businesses to drive down their energy costs and become more sustainable.

The new solar division is headed by Dan Gorrell, an accomplished solar-industry leader who brings to his new role extensive operations experience, success building high-performing teams, and a track record delivering value to customers. Gorrell most recently led operations as Vice President of Operations at NRG Home Solar, a residential solar company, and as Chief Operating Officer at Roof Diagnostics Solar, where he developed strong ties to Massachusetts and Connecticut municipalities, utilities and solar-rebate entities. He will run the new unit out of World Energy Efficiency Services’ Cromwell, Conn. offices and Worcester, Mass. headquarters.

“Solar technology and pricing have improved significantly over the last five years, making solar an attractive option for businesses and municipalities looking for more control over their energy use, generation and cost,” said Dan Gorrell. “I am very excited to be leading the solar effort at World Energy Efficiency Services, because, by reliably delivering the benefits of energy efficiency to its customers, the company has made believers of them – and now they want more. The opportunity to add solar to this winning mix is a big one, and I can’t wait to make it a vital part of the company’s success story.”

The launch of the new division comes as the company continues to grow rapidly, and profitably, in its first full year of operations as World Energy Efficiency Services. Officially established in October 2015 by principals Rick Galipeau and Mike Santangelo, and leveraging a core team that has worked together successfully since 2011, the company specializes in the planning and execution of energy-efficiency projects spanning lighting, mechanical (HVAC, refrigeration, etc.), variable speed drives, and building management systems and controls, primarily servicing small- and medium-sized businesses, as well as municipalities.

“We are excited to be adding strong, regional solar capabilities to our portfolio of energy-efficiency services to meet growing demand from our customers,” said Rick Galipeau, President, World Energy Efficiency Services. “With our current energy-efficiency customers asking us for help moving them to solar, we felt the time was right to start capturing this business rather than continuing to farm it out to partners. In solar, customer acquisition is the highest cost of doing business, and we have the advantage of already having the customers. Our immediate plan is to roll out our solar capabilities to existing clients who have expressed interest in going solar, while also offering solar to prospects as an integral part of our energy-efficiency offering. Over time, and as the situation warrants, we will continue to grow the business.”
