Baseball Pilgrimage: Cheapflights.com Reveals Cheapest Ballparks to Catch an Away Game

Take Your Love for the Game on the Road for Less

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - Jul 14, 2016) - Every summer, baseball fans stream into their local ballpark to cheer on their favorite MLB team. But as we head into the second half of the season, many are ready to take to the road for their baseball fix. The cost of catching an away game varies quite a bit, with the total cost for two people ranging from $177.50 at the Houston Astros' Minute Maid Park all the way up to $484.50 at Chicago's Wrigley Field. To help fans plan their most cost-effective baseball pilgrimage, the travel experts at Cheapflights.com, the online leader in finding and publishing travel deals, have come up with Most affordable away games: A 2016 cost ranking of Major League ballparks.

To create the ranking of the 30 MLB parks, Cheapflights calculated the cost for two people to attend an away game, finding the average price for a night at the most affordable three-star hotel within a 30-minute walk of each park, getting the average price for a basic ticket for each team for the remainder of the season from SeatGeek, determining the estimated cost for an Uber to and from the stadium and adding in the cost of a hotdog, soft drink and beer for two, based on information from Statista.

It appears that heading west is the key to the best baseball bargains. The parks that top the ranking are all west of the Mississippi:

Rank   Name   Team   Hotel   Pair of tickets   Two
soft drinks
  Two
beers
  Two

  Uber   Total cost
1   Minute Maid Park   Houston Astros   $119   $14   $9   $10   $9.50   $16   $177.50
