American Portfolios Financial Services, Inc. Named 2016 Broker-Dealer of the Year by Investment Advisor Magazine for Two Years Running

HOLBROOK, NY--(Marketwired - August 23, 2016) - American Portfolios Financial Services, Inc. (APFS), an independent broker/dealer that serves affiliated financial advisors nationwide, is proud to announce being named Broker-Dealer of the Year in 2016 by Investment Advisor magazine for its second consecutive year. Each year since 1991, Investment Advisor magazine's editorial staff have invited registered representatives of independent broker/dealers (B/Ds) to rate their B/D in 15 distinct categories. The B/Ds that receive the highest average rating from their affiliated professionals are named Broker-Dealers of the Year in four divisions based on their number of producing representatives. APFS won Division III, gaining top votes in the category of broker/dealers with 500-999 producing advisors.

"The honor of being named B/D of the Year again comes at a most fitting time, as APFS approaches its fifteen-year anniversary on Sept. 10, 2016," states CEO Lon T. Dolber. "As fate would have it, just one day prior to 9/11, when we began operating as a full service B/D, I am reminded of the journey we've traveled together, helping build successful, sustainable practices as we faced many ups and downs along the way. It has been a gratifying experience as a company working to provide the highest level of service and support to our valued affiliated financial professionals."

It is through a dedication to people -- the firm's employees; its affiliated advisors; and, in turn, the end clients -- that APFS firmly roots its success. After being named B/D of the Year for 2015 by Investment Advisor magazine, the firm proudly earned the distinction of No. 1 Best Small/Mid-Size Company to Work for in the state of New York for 2016 by the New York State Society for Human Resources Management (NYS-SHRM) and the Best Companies Group (BCG). These achievements have stemmed from hard work and dedication to provide the best support, products and services to its investment professionals so that they can run their businesses more efficiently, which ultimately translates into successful and long-standing client relationships.

The firm has put a great deal of emphasis since its inception on building strong technology, starting with its proprietary and distributed business processing Web service STARS, which in the last year has implemented Unified Client Signed and Straight-Through Processing functionalities, generating enormous business processing efficiencies for the advisor community. Further strategic initiatives stated in AP's five-year roadmap, which the firm embarked on beginning in 2015, moved toward creating platform and technology independence, more specifically for its advisory business. Through the investment and exclusive partnership in 2014 of development firm TrustFort, to integrate its highly developed software (Portfolio Insight) into the firm's Nine Points Advisory Services Platform, all the tools an advisor needs for a flexible billing process, intuitive model management and rebalancing, multi-faceted trading functionality and comprehensive reporting capabilities are brought together in one convenient Web-based solution.

Finely tuned to the burgeoning flux within the financial services industry surrounding the DOL Fiduciary Rule, APFS was quick to convene a committee to process and evaluate how the impending regulatory changes may impact the way investment professionals conduct business. This topic, in addition to a wealth of practice management offerings and valuable focus partner symposiums, will be covered in-depth at the firm's fifteenth national conference set to take place in Baltimore, Md. from Sept. 14-16, 2016.

APFS holds firm to its promise to always act with integrity and to never sacrifice its advisors' or clients' interests for the sake of its own. The firm holds itself responsible, not only to its customers, but also to the community at large. APFS is actively engaged in socially responsible endeavors by participating in and sponsoring events through non-profit organizations such as World T.E.A.M. Sports, Virtual Enterprises International and The Dome Project.

The announcement of APFS' Division III 2016 Broker-Dealer of the Year Award will be formally made in the September issue of Investment Advisor magazine.
