NEW YORK, May 18, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Dr. Jeffrey Scifert, Senior Engineering Program Manager at Medtronic, has been selected to join the Industry Board at the American Health Council. He will be sharing his knowledge and expertise in Healthcare Education, Workforce Development, Business, and Biologics R&D.
With over sixteen years of experience in the healthcare industry, Dr. Scifert offers valuable insight in his role as the Senior Engineering Program Manager at Medtronic. Medtronic is a medical device company that includes medical technologies from implantable mechanical devices, surgical instruments, and biologic delivery devices. Its mission is to contribute to human welfare by application of biomedical engineering in the research, design, manufacture, and sale of instruments of application that alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life.
In his current capacity as the Senior Engineering Program Manager at Medtronic, Dr. Scifert ‘s day-to-day responsibilities involve business development and strategy, streamlining products, and managing technological devices.
In 2000, Dr. Scifert obtained his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Iowa. He is certified as a Lean Sigma Green Belt at Medtronic.
To keep abreast of the latest in the industry, Dr. Scifert maintains affiliations with ASTM International, Society of Behavioral Medicine (SBM), Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC), ORS and BSA.
Dr. Scifert attributes his success to having a passion for the field of biomedical engineering, which arose from his love of biology and engineering. He has published more than 10 peer-reviewed articles and has 28 patents focused on biologic bone grafting technologies, spinal devices, and instrumentation designs.
In his free time, Dr. Scifert enjoys being a husband to his wife and father for his two children, supporting the Boy Scouts of America, being a den leader for the Cub Scouts, and reading.
Considering the future, Dr. Scifert hopes to grow in his role as the senior engineering program manager.
