Bee Part of the Buzz – One Seed, One School at a Time!

Montreal, June 01, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) --

A.Vogel’s allergy campaign proudly supports Bee City’s campaign to save our pollinators from extinction through youth education and gardening programs

In their fourth annual Save the Bees campaign, they’ve gone to the root of the problem, grass roots specifically. For every Allergy Relief product sold, A.Vogel will donate 1$ to initiatives by Bee City to educate children ages 5+ on the importance of protecting our bees to ensure our future. They do so via educational and gardening programs in local community centers and elementary schools.

Across Canada, there are currently 5 locations that have signed on with the Bee City and A.Vogel initiative – two in Ontario, two in Quebec and one in the West.

“Bee City Canada is pleased and honoured to partner with A.Vogel in their yearly campaign to Save the Bees! Together we have included 2 Bee Schools and 1 First Nation community in our special Echinacea seed program. Next year, as we expand our Bee School program to move across the country, we welcome A.Vogel as our continuing partner.  We invite cities, campuses, schools and First Nation communities to join the Bee City Family and participate in "the save the bee" movement that is sweeping across Canada and the world,” said Shelly Candel, the director of Bee City Canada.

A recent report warns the world that the ongoing decline of our pollinators, like bees and butterflies, if not addressed immediately, may have an apocalyptic effect on our global food supply and therefore the future of generations to come.

Pollinators, including some 20,000 species of wild bees, are essential to hundreds of billions of dollars’ worth of crops each year – from fruits and vegetables to coffee and chocolate. However, according to the report released by a group affiliated to the United Nations, two out of five species of invertebrate pollinators, such as bees and butterflies are on the path towards extinction.

Of even greater concern is the fact that the cause of our pollinator crises cannot be narrowed down to a single source. Villains include: pesticide use, habitat loss due to development, disease, parasites and pathogens, and global warming.

For years, A.Vogel has partnered with various local and national organizations to awareness and efforts to save our bees and butterflies.

"At A.Vogel, the preservation of nature is one of our core values, as demonstrated by our commitment to organic and sustainable farming initiatives and community involvement campaigns. Given our dedication to the environment, the ongoing struggle of bees and other pollinators is a cause that is close to our hearts. We are excited to partner with Bee City and their youth programs. After all, children are the future - change begins with them," said Mackie Vadacchino, CEO.

The A.Vogel Allergy Relief, Save the Bees campaign was sparked by the link of pollen to allergy sufferers and the type that the bees create, which are responsible for both the nourishment of the environment and our own.

Allergy Relief is a licensed, clinically proven, all-natural product that comes in 3 formats, tincture, tablets and nasal spray and can be taken by children aged 1+ and pregnant/nursing mothers according to health care professionals. "There are many OTC products that target allergy symptoms yet there use is hindered by side effects and precautions. Allergy Relief offers a unique option to the management of allergies because it can help with both symptom relief and prevention," said pharmacist and author of The Canadian Encyclopedia of Natural medicine, Sherry Torkos. “As a mother of a 6 year old I am concerned about the future of our food supply and I strive to educate my son about the importance role that pollinators play. I am pleased to see A. Vogel’s dedication to providing education and awareness about the plight of the pollinators, which we so vitally need for the survivability of our food crops.”

So far this year we have raised 3,000$ - the campaign will continue until the end of June.
