Richmond, Virginia, June 06, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Richmond, VA – June 1, 2017 – David Berryhill, owner of the Chicagoland locations in Naperville and Palatine, Illinois, and his team were awarded Archadeck Outdoor Living’s Design Excellence award in the Porch/Room and Hardscape categories. The winning project in the hardscape category was designed by Maggie Lawlor, an Archadeck design consultant, and the winning porch/room project was designed by Chicagoland President David Berryhill. This contest recognizes design excellence in several project categories among its franchise locations.
Presented annually, the Archadeck Design Excellence Award is awarded in different project categories including decking projects, hardscape or patio projects, and porch and room projects. The winners of those categories are then entered to win the Design Excellence Award Grand Prize, which is determined by a collective vote within the Archadeck franchisee network.

Designed by David Berryhill himself, Archadeck of Chicagoland’s award winning porch/room project is a dramatic open porch with a spacious TimberTech low maintenance/composite deck. The high-vaulted ceiling provides the homeowners with shade and the faux gable finish and large timbers add unique detail and a traditional look that beautifully contrasts with the deck’s contemporary cable rails and rustic ceiling finish. The low maintenance/composite deck integrates with the existing wrap around porch and creates a multipurpose space for the homeowners.
Chicagoland’s winning hardscape project is a Belgard paver patio designed by Maggie Lawlor. The multifunctional patio uses different levels to create defined spaces for dining, lounging, seating around a fire pit and grilling. The patio’s Weston wall creates separation from the rest of the yard and the ambient Weston fire pit serves as a great focal point in the space and creates a gathering area for entertaining. The patio’s shape and color integrate seamlessly with the existing home and flows well with the rest of the yard.
