Principals from Across U.S. to Build Playground at Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, Elementary School

NAESP and Landscape Structures will gift Stonehurst Hills Elementary with a playground structure during the 2017 National Principals Conference in Philadelphia.


Reston, Virginia, June 29, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Over 100 of the nation’s school principals will come together Sat., July 8 to build a playground at Stonehurst Hills Elementary School in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania. This is the ninth year that the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) has partnered with Landscape Structures to donate and build a playground at a deserving elementary school. This year, principals representing the National Association of Secondary School Principals are joining in the service day, as a component of the jointly presented 2017 National Principals Conference, held July 9-11 in Philadelphia.

What: Principals from around the nation will help to build a playground at Stonehurst Hills Elementary School. NAESP and corporate partner Landscape Structures, a Delano, Minn.-based commercial playground equipment manufacturer, are donating a PlayBooster® playstructure for kids ages 5 to 12 valued at approximately $30,000. The playstructure features the new GeoPlex™ climbing panels in addition to various ground-level climbers, overhead ladders, and bridges and balancing activities. The playground is ADA compliant and was designed to welcome children of all abilities. In addition to building the playground, principal volunteers will do landscaping, painting, and other beautification projects at the school.

About Stonehurst Hills Elementary School: Principal Aaronda Beauford leads Stonehurst Hills Elementary, which serves 625 students. The school population is richly diverse in terms of socioeconomic status and ethnicity. Eighty-three percent receive free or reduced-price lunch.
