Prescient Building System Makes Downtown Kansas City Debut in the ARTerra High-Rise Apartment Complex

Altus Properties, Copaken Brooks and JE Dunn tapped Prescient for $24 million project in the city’s Crossroads Arts District

Durham, N.C., July 20, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Altus Properties, Copaken Brooks and JE Dunn Construction have tapped Prescient to provide its fully integrated and patented design, engineering, manufacturing and installation solution for the first-ever high-rise apartment building in Kansas City’s Crossroads Arts District.

The ARTerra project is a 12-story residential apartment building located at 21st and Wyandotte Streets in Kansas City, Missouri. The building will feature 126 residential units, consisting of a mix of studios, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments. The project is developed by Altus Properties and Copaken Brooks, contracted by JE Dunn and designed by HOK. ARTerra is the second partnership between JE Dunn and Prescient.

“Having worked with both Prescient and Altus in the past provided us with a sense of familiarity and the assurance that we would be able to deliver this beautiful, high-quality project on time and on budget,” said Gordon Lansford, CEO, JE Dunn Construction. “We have recognized both significant cost savings and the ability to set and meet aggressive timelines through our past collaboration with Prescient. We anticipate ARTerra will be another success.”

The ARTerra building will total approximately 200,000 square feet, including more than 100,000 square feet of Prescient structure. There will be an enclosed parking garage and 2,000 square feet of retail space on part of the first floor. ARTerra will also feature best-in-class amenities such as an infinity pool and 12th floor amenity suite with unparalleled views of the Kansas City skyline.

“The Prescient system is ideally suited for multi-unit apartment projects,” said Magued Eldaief, Prescient CEO. “The innovative, field-tested platform unlocks repeatable cost-savings while enabling architects the flexibility and freedom to be as creative as they’d like in the design of the building, as we clearly see in the beautiful ARTerra design.”

“Collaborating with JE Dunn and Prescient aligns perfectly with our commitment to high-quality work, attention to detail and delivering projects on time and on budget,” said Josh Udelhofen, managing director, development, Altus Properties. “Working with JE Dunn and Prescient will allow us to not only complete this project successfully, but exceed customer expectations.”

About Prescient

Established in 2012, the Prescient vision is a revolution in the way buildings take shape through new levels of cost efficiency, environmental sustainability and quality of outcome for all participants. Prescient’s platform ensures buildings perform better, cost less and take less time to build by employing a Digital Thread for leading-edge integrated manufacturing.

The Prescient Digital Thread. The foundation for Prescient’s revolution is a standardized light gauge framing system that utilizes proprietary software applications which create a design and construction platform. Our exclusive Digital Thread connects projects from the initial architectural design through the finished building. As a result, projects are no longer a series of isolated steps with familiar breakdowns and gaps, but an orderly progression through a repeatable flow, connecting developer, designers, suppliers and contractors at every step. This seamless approach means higher productivity, higher quality, fewer last-minute conflicts on site, less waste, shorter schedules and a better ROI.

Integrated Manufacturing. Prescient uses precision manufacturing technology including robotics, laser cutting systems and state-of-the-art, numerically controlled flexible manufacturing systems to deliver buildings with very tight tolerances, comparable to the automotive industry. Prescient’s Digital Thread integrates planning and design with manufacturing and installation.

We are Prescient. And we’re rebuilding construction from the ground up.
