BCG Ranks First on Consulting’s Best Firms to Work For List for Fourth Straight Year

Firm Earns Top Score in Five of Six Areas: Career Development, Firm Culture, Firm Leadership, Client Engagement, and Compensation and Benefits

BOSTON, Sept. 14, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- For the fourth consecutive year, The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) has earned the top spot in Consulting magazine’s “Best Firms to Work For” survey.

BCG finished first in five of the six categories the survey measures—career development, firm culture, firm leadership, client engagement, and compensation and benefits—and third in work-life balance. It is the only firm to appear on the list every year since the survey debuted in 2001 and has never been ranked outside the top five.

“There’s simply no denying BCG is the very best consulting firm to work for right now. The numbers don’t lie,” said Joseph Kornik, Consulting’s publisher and editor-in-chief. “That level of consistency is very difficult to achieve, and the firm’s leadership deserves plenty of credit for their success.”

BCG also swept with the highest scores on four key survey questions:

  • “How interesting do you find your work to be on a typical assignment?”
  • “How often do you think your work has had a positive impact on clients?”
  • “How often do you feel that your firm is meeting your clients’ needs?”
  • “How positive would you say the morale is at your company?”

“Our highest priority—one shared by the entire leadership team—is making BCG the best employer for top talent and the premier place for professional growth,” Joe Davis, BCG’s chairman of North America, told the magazine. “It’s critical to our ability to tackle our clients’ toughest challenges and deliver the performance improvement, identifiable value, and sustainable advantage they expect.”

Morale remains very high, Davis explained, because BCG continues to grow at a healthy double-digit rate, as it has for a number of years, offering an ever-expanding set of options and growth opportunities. “As we and our industry evolve, we are providing a growing set of opportunities in a range of areas, such as digital innovation, transformation and advanced analytics, and opening new offices around the world.”

Earning the top spot on Consulting’s list follows other workplace honors for the firm this year. In March, BCG ranked number three on Fortune’s “100 Best Companies to Work For” list, which measures companies across all industries. Demonstrating remarkable consistency, BCG has ranked in the top five on Fortune’s list for seven straight years and is one of only two companies to make the top dozen every year since the firm began participating in 2006.

In July, Fairygodboss, the women's job-review site, announced that almost 15,000 of its members had rated BCG the top company for women. And for the tenth consecutive year, BCG received a perfect score on the 2017 Corporate Equality Index, recognizing equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender employees.

Consulting’s 2017 ranking derives from an online survey conducted this past spring and summer. More than 10,000 employees participated, representing over 300 firms. About three-quarters of the respondents came from the United States. The complete findings appear in the magazine’s September issue and on www.consultingmag.com.
