Architecture/Engineering Firm Mason & Hanger Appoints New President


CHANTILLY, Va., Oct. 24, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mason & Hanger, a Day & Zimmermann (D&Z) company, has announced Benjamin A. Lilly, PE as President. As a growing Architecture/Engineering (A/E) firm, Mr. Lilly will lead Mason & Hanger in their mission of building a more secure world through their work supporting the federal government in the U.S. and overseas.

In his career, Mr. Lilly has traveled to over 31 different countries including Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Sudan, Zimbabwe, Cambodia, Indonesia, and Saudi Arabia where he has personally worked on and managed the A/E design for high profile, mission critical projects. He has managed A/E services for a combined portfolio of more than $4 Billion in international construction projects for government clients. Mr. Lilly was previously Mason & Hanger’s Vice President of International Federal Programs.

Under his leadership the firm provided engineering design for the first LEED Gold and LEED Platinum U.S. embassy projects. His teams have received the ACEC Virginia 2015 Engineering Excellence Grand Award for design of the Innovation Center in Helsinki, Finland, and the ACEC Virginia 2014 Engineering Excellence Pinnacle Award for design of the U.S. embassy in Monrovia, Liberia.

Mr. Lilly started with the firm in 1994 as a junior civil engineer, and a series of promotions led him to become the department’s director. After doubling the size of the civil department, he was promoted to Director of Embassy Programs in 2009. Mr. Lilly graduated from Virginia Military Institute with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. He is a past president of the Virginia Chapter of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) and is an Eagle Scout.
