Vitamin Angels Receives Highest Possible Rating from GuideStar®

Charity Evaluator Awards Vitamin Angels with Platinum Seal of Transparency

SANTA BARBARA, CA, Nov. 21, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Vitamin Angels, a 501(c)3 public charity that provides nutritional support to women and children around the world, is proud to announce their receipt of the 2017 Platinum GuideStar Nonprofit Profile Seal of Transparency, the highest level of recognition offered by GuideStar, the world’s largest source of nonprofit information. GuideStar’s evaluation method focuses on metrics related to progress and results against a charity’s stated mission, and awards ratings based on the level of transparency of reporting.

“We are thrilled to receive this ranking from GuideStar in the first year that we have applied,” said Howard Schiffer, President and Founder of Vitamin Angels. “This coveted recognition is further validation of Vitamin Angels’ commitment to upholding operational transparency.”

In addition to transparency, the organization excels in the effective use of funds. Over 90% of all expenses go to program services, where the charity’s cost to provide one child with two doses of lifesaving vitamin A for an entire year is just 25 cents. In 2017, Vitamin Angels is working to serve 60 million children and mothers in 66 countries around the world.

Vitamin Angels’ commitment to fiscal responsibility was recognized earlier this year by Charity Navigator, which also awarded the organization its highest rating—4 stars. Receiving that exceptional designation, for the sixth consecutive year, placed the organization in the top five percent of charities evaluated annually by Charity Navigator.
