Catalogic Software Updates Flagship DPX Data Protection Software

With DPX 4.5.1, Catalogic begins major software enhancement project and data protection innovation

WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., Dec. 18, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Catalogic Software today announced the release and general availability of DPX 4.5.1, the newest version of its data protection software that has been an industry leader in providing state-of-the-art data recovery while delivering unprecedented reliability and backup success rates for over twenty years.

“This release is the first step in restating the value of our DPX offering,” said Ethan Blynn, Vice President and General Manager of the DPX business unit. “We’re pleased that this begins a significant wave of updates and innovation to DPX that will continue through 2018.”

Catalogic DPX, originally called Backup Express, has a long history of market-leading innovation. As Blynn noted, “Catalogic invented block-level, incremental forever backups. We pioneered the concept of spinning up VMs from a snapshot-based backup copy. In fact, much of what the backup world now takes for granted were Catalogic innovations.”

In the past few years, Catalogic was focused on opening up the growing market for Copy Data Management software. As CEO Ken Barth noted, “We never stopped engineering efforts on DPX, but a lot of our innovation was going into ECX, our copy data management software. With ECX now a leading copy data solution, we’re getting back to our roots in data backup and recovery. We’ve got some exciting things in the works.”

The new DPX 4.5.1 release focuses on end-user management simplification, enhanced reporting and expanding operating system and application support. A full list of updates is in the What’s New document. Catalogic is also presenting a webinar on January 11th which will provide details of the new release, and offer the first look at the roadmap for 2018.
