PALO ALTO, Calif., Jan. 02, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Looking to move your factory out of the desert? The concept of the micro factory would be in direct contrast to the giga-factory, and bring back business to the cottage industry, where focus would be on high-profit niche markets, or for in-house product development, which focuses on limited production runs. The micro factory would optimize on-demand and point-of-use production, which better reflects market demand, while simultaneously reducing production time and freight. This strategy enhances and bolsters local economies, which in-turn can source locally available carbon raw materials and increase vertical integration. Why build a factory in a desert, where there are no raw materials for production?

With electrostatics and lasers as the heart of this product ecosystem, the micro factory will not only be able to produce graphene from carbon based materials, such as sugar, hemp, and bamboo, but then use the produced graphene to build into applications, such as laser printed circuit boards, supercapacitors, laser based 3D printer additives, and graphene lasers. The entire project extensively uses electrostatics as part of each feature of raw material production and applications.

With a proprietary smart fluid, which contains graphite oxide, a standard laser can produce thin graphene film, while our converted laser engraver (metal 3D printer), can make graphene foam or blocks (depending on co-mingled strength enhancers). By using vacuum form pressing, assemblies like super capacitors can be made with increased energy density that is impervious to water penetration. Ultimately, the goal of these development projects is to make a graphene micro factory, which is a portable and modular graphene based production station.
