Land Ho! US Coast Guard Dry-Docking in Brooklyn Navy Yard for over 50 Days

Federal Business Opportunity for Small Business to provide Crew Accommodations

Brooklyn, New York, Jan. 17, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) --

The US Coast Guard is asking for offers from hotels within a five-mile radius of the Brooklyn Navy Yard to provide accommodations to 104 crew members of the USCG Escanaba for fifty-two days while the vessel undergoes a planned dry-dock. They are only considering small businesses for the contract award and will look at a few different criteria when selecting the hotel.

A low price is always a major factor when bidding for government work and this solicitation is no different. However, in addition to a good deal, the Coast Guard will be looking at the dining options which are offered. The period of performance begins and ends around meals, lunch on January 30 to kick off their stay and breakfast on March 21 for their send off. In between those dates, they expect six different dining facilities to be included on the offer with the accompanying menus and a signed agreement from each dining facility manager.

Another criterion considered for a competitive bid is to include past performance on similar contracts within the past three years. Past performance records are another standard in the government vetting tactic. On this solicitation, there is a specific evaluation survey that must be completed to be eligible.

The response deadline for offers is January 23, 2018. Offers can be sent to the contracting officer, Alissia Gavalian at Alissa.Gavalian@uscg.mil. Before submitting an offer, the full details and all solicitation attachments can be found on the website where the government posts federal business opportunities, FBO.gov. Interested businesses may also find details on the Advanced Procurement Portal from US Federal Contractor Registration.

US Federal Contractor Registration (USFCR), the world’s largest third-party government registration firm, masters of the government's mandatory System for Award Management (SAM) Registration, provide a start-to-finish federal procurement strategy for businesses, organizations, institutions and government agencies.  Once their clients are SAM registered, they get them set-up with the government’s invoicing systems, build government-formatted websites for proper communication with contracting officers, and train offerors on successful bidding techniques. USFCR has pioneered the Advanced Procurement Portal (APP) which not only provides active and historical federal business opportunity information, but also a list of active federal buyers and vendors. APP includes a built-in Learning Center so newcomers to the federal sector can learn how to maximize these opportunities.
