Nuance Scanning, Cost Recovery, PDF and Voice Solutions Capture Leadership Positions in 2017 Annual ILTA Technology Survey

Leading Law Firms of all Sizes Turn to Nuance to Address Their Document and Voice-to-Text Needs

Burlington, Mass., Jan. 24, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Nuance Communications, Inc. today announced its law office productivity software has received high usage rankings across multiple categories in the annual International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) technology survey. Nuance’s scanning workflow, speech recognition, PDF editing and redacting, and cost recovery solutions are among the most widely used solutions in law firms, with Nuance solutions leading in three of these four categories.

The ILTA survey is the largest of its kind in the legal industry, surveying 579 law firms (a 46 percent increase from last year) of all sizes and all practice areas. Nuance’s Copitrak Scan was cited as the most commonly used product in the scanning workflow category and the leader in cost recovery, while Nuance Dragon speech recognition for desktop led the voice-to-text category. Nuance solutions also occupied second place in three of the four categories.

“This year’s ILTA survey results demonstrate Nuance’s pre-eminence in the legal technology solutions market,” says Chris Strammiello, Vice President of Global Alliances & Strategic Marketing, Nuance Communications. “The legal tech field comprises innovators who are constantly striving to improve everyday processes through enhanced security and productivity. We are honored to be recognized as an important player in this multi-faceted endeavor.”

In the scanning workflow category, Nuance Copitrak Scan was cited by 23 percent of respondents, up three percent from last year’s survey. Nuance eCopy was reported as the second most widely used solution (16 percent of respondents), while the company’s Equitrac Scan to Me and AutoStore tool were also reported as popular deployments.

With voice becoming commonplace as an input method, 61 percent of firms surveyed reported using voice-to-text technology. Of those firms, 49 percent reported using Nuance Dragon for desktop, up four percent from last year and more than any other tool referenced in the survey. Nuance Dragon Dictate was also included in the list of top voice-to-text solutions.

“Document-intensive sectors such as the legal industry continue to seek technology tools like speech recognition to streamline documentation – as evidenced by the growing adoption of Nuance Dragon for desktop in the recent ITLA survey,” said Mark Geremia, Vice President and General Manager, Dragon, Nuance Communications.

In the PDF editing and redacting category, Nuance Power PDF/Power PDF Pro was the second most widely used solution (32 percent). In the cost recovery solutions area, Nuance Copitrak once again led the results with 33 percent of respondents citing the tool, followed in second place by Nuance Equitrac with 23 percent.
