Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec: Robin Pelletier struck off the roll for 4 months

MONTREAL, Jan. 30, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Disciplinary Council of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec rendered its decision on guilt and sanction in the case of Robin Pelletier, who will be struck from the OIQ’s roll for a period of 4 months. In its decision, the Disciplinary Council also ordered Mr. Pelletier to pay all costs in connection with processing the complaint, including publication costs.

Mr. Pelletier was found guilty of informing a direct competitor, at its request, of the prices obtained from sub-contractors and the range of price estimates selected for his employer's bid in a competitive bidding process.

In doing so, Mr. Pelletier violated the sections of the Code of Ethics of Engineers concerning the use of dishonest or doubtful practices (3.02.08) and respect for the secrecy of confidential information (3.06.01), as well as section 59.1.1 of the Professional Code, by committing a derogatory act involving collusion.

Mr. Pelletier's alleged offences took place in Lévis in November 2015, while he was assistant director of construction and management at Excavations Lafontaine.

The full version of the Disciplinary Council’s decision, including the summary of charges, is available on the OIQ’s Web site.

As a reminder, the sanctions imposed by the Disciplinary Council are meant to protect the public by dissuading professionals from repeating offences and by setting an example for other members of the profession.
