The Home Depot® Receives 2018 CSO50 Award from IDG’s CSO Magazine

Honorees to be Recognized at the CSO50 Conference + Awards

FREMONT, Calif., Feb. 26, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Attivo Networks®, the award-winning leader in deception technology for cybersecurity defense, announced today that The Home Depot® has been named an honoree of a 2018 CSO50 Award from IDG's CSO Magazine. The company’s growth strategy involves active acquisition and the award recognizes The Home Depot Info Sec team’s successes in establishing visibility into the acquired entities’ networks to proactively understand vulnerabilities that may exist. By creating a scalable security strategy across distributed subsidiaries, the company is able to protect the integrity of networked environments to maintain high customer confidence, customer loyalty and revenue generation intended from these acquisitions. Visibility and identification of preexisting hidden threats were achieved through the deployment of a Distributed Deception Platform based on the Attivo Networks ThreatDefend™ Deception and Response Platform.

The CSO50 awards are bestowed on a select group of organizations that have demonstrated that their security initiatives have created outstanding business value and thought leadership for their companies. The Home Depot will accept its award at the CSO50 Conference + Awards held on February 26-28, 2018, at the Scottsdale Resort at McCormick Ranch, Scottsdale, Arizona. In addition, Sarath Geethakumar, Senior Director of Information Security, will present at the event on “The Art of Cyber Deception” on Wednesday, February 28, 2018.

“We are very pleased to see The Home Depot Info Sec team being recognized for their achievements and application of detection technology,” said Tushar Kothari, CEO of Attivo Networks. “This recognition is a strong validation of the role that deception can play during acquisitions and as part of an in-depth security defense.”

The Home Depot, as part of deploying its cutting-edge deception and response technology, established the capabilities to detect hidden or time-triggered malware that could move laterally across the affiliate networks, identify tactics being taken to compromise endpoints relying on stolen credentials to escalate privileges and compromise the environment. This proactive approach helped the company develop a lightweight but highly effective and scalable security strategy across distributed subsidiaries. This strategy has yielded several benefits: protecting the integrity of the company’s operations, maintaining high customer confidence and loyalty, and improving revenue generation potential from its acquisitions. Additionally, The Home Depot strengthened its endpoint defenses by deploying the ThreatStrike solution that implements customized deceptive credentials to endpoints to detect credential theft, ransomware attacks and reduce risk at the endpoint.

The Attivo Networks ThreatDefend Platform provides visibility and early detection of human and automated attacker reconnaissance and lateral movements. The ThreatDefend BOTsink® decoys are designed to appear as authentic and attractive assets that appear identical to the production environment. These decoys present an attacker with an attractive target that engages, traps, and safely records the tactics, techniques, and procedures being employed by the attacker.
