Plant Prefab Installs Two Custom, Prefabricated Residences in Berkeley and Napa

Projects Demonstrate Rapid Company Growth and Increasing Demand for High-Quality, Prefabricated Construction

Rialto, CA, March 07, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Plant Prefab, an emerging home design and prefabrication company, today announced the installation of its two latest residential projects. Installed in only four hours, the Plant Prefab Napa home, a LivingHome C6P, was designed to LEED Platinum standards and includes 1,300 square feet, three bedrooms and two bathrooms. In just two days, Plant Prefab also installed a custom, 16-unit dormitory for educational farm and community center Urban Adamah, which marks one of the first prefabricated, multi-family residences in Berkeley. All installation modules were constructed at Plant Prefab’s facility in Rialto and shipped to the build sites. With construction occurring concurrently with build site preparation, substantial time was saved and neighborhood disruption was mitigated.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, $526.1 billion was spent on residential construction as of December last year, with roughly $330 billion allotted to new, residential construction. Plant Prefab is addressing this massive market opportunity by producing higher quality homes 50 percent faster, at lower cost and with less waste than traditional, site-based construction. Given increasing construction challenges such as labor shortages, rising costs, extended timelines and neighborhood disruption, Plant Prefab is providing a time and cost-effective solution for high-quality, sustainable, custom home construction that targets the growing urban infill market, at a time when demand for homes is high yet supply is particularly low.

Since Plant Prefab homes are built off-site and require significantly less construction time and costs, the company is also an ideal solution for rebuilding efforts in areas affected by natural disasters. In Napa and Sonoma counties, for instance, Plant Prefab is helping residents overcome severe contractor shortages due to the wildfire aftermath. By leveraging its off-site build facility and full-time staff, Plant Prefab is enabling wildfire victims -- who don’t have the luxury of extra time or capital -- to leave temporary housing situations and access permanent, long-term homes.

“Unlike other prefabricators, Plant Prefab focuses on producing sustainable, high-quality, custom homes based on designs provided by customers or our design partners,” said Steve Glenn, founder and CEO of Plant Prefab. “By constructing off-site with a full-time staff, we’re satisfying a chronic need for affordable housing, especially in more densely populated areas like Berkeley and Napa, all while requiring significantly less construction time, costs and waste production.”

In the past year, Plant Prefab opened a 62,000 square foot facility in Rialto, California, secured $3.4 million in Series A funding led by Obvious Ventures, and shipped multiple homes throughout California. In the coming months, the company will construct three additional single-family homes for victims of the recent Napa-area wildfires. Plant Prefab is committed to revitalizing the region and helping those who lost their homes, so the company has introduced special pricing for victims of the fire, including free initial site assessments, 50 percent off feasibility services, $5,000 in free upgrades and 5 percent off design/administrative fees.
