Noridian Healthcare Solutions awarded CMS UPIC SMRC contract


FARGO, N.D., March 22, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Noridian Healthcare Solutions, LLC has been awarded a $227 million Supplemental Medical Review Contractor (SMRC) contract by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), concluding a competitive procurement as a part of the UPIC IDIQ.

To support the new contract, Noridian will be hiring approximately 300 individuals.  Staff supporting the SMRC contract are located in NHS’s Fargo headquarters and throughout the country.

The primary role of the SMRC is to conduct nationwide medical review of Part A, Part B and DME providers and suppliers as directed by CMS. It’s the responsibility of the SMRC to review medical records and related documentation to ensure that claims are processed in accordance with CMS guidelines.

In addition to SMRC, Noridian holds five Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) contracts including the Part A/Part B contracts for Jurisdictions E and F, the Durable Medical Equipment (DME) contracts for Jurisdictions A and D and the national Pricing, Data Analysis and Coding contract. In addition, Noridian supports claims processing for the Iowa Medicaid Program.
