Investing in Our Community: Security Innovation Sponsors Major STEM Education Initiative for Youth in Boston

Industry leader in security assessment and training helping to prepare our youth for tomorrow’s technology-driven economy

WILMINGTON, Mass., March 29, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Security Innovation, a pioneer in software security assessment and training, today announced its sponsorship of BoSTEM, a United Way initiative designed to foster excitement among thousands of Boston’s middle school students for math, science and technology.  Security Innovation’s support of BoSTEM is part of the company’s ongoing commitment to the future of our community and the technology industry through meaningful education.

Security Innovation is one of a select group of organizations that sponsored BoSTEM’s 3rd annual STEM Leadership Breakfast on Wednesday, March 28 at the Revere Hotel Boston Common in Boston.  More than 300 influential leaders from the region’s health care, science, technology, engineering, venture capital, finance, bio-medical and pharmaceutical industries were on hand, along with Boston Mayor Marty Walsh and Rahn Dorsey, the Chief of Education for Boston, to support our region’s youth STEM (science/technology/engineering/math) programs.

"We are very appreciative of Security Innovation's sponsorship and support of the BoSTEM program," said Michael K. Durkin, President and CEO, United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley.  "As a Massachusetts-based company and a leader in providing security education to companies throughout the world, they understand the importance of providing engaging learning opportunities that will help young students become fluent in science, technology, engineering and math."

By 2022, 10,000 middle schoolers typically under-represented in STEM careers will participate in rigorous afterschool STEM learning through the BoSTEM initiative. Additionally, Boston Public High Schools are developing STEM career internships and pathways in collaboration with higher education institutions, employers and the Boston Private Industry Council.

“When we give students the chance to apply STEM skills with exciting, real-world context, we prepare the next generation of leaders in our technology-driven economy,” said Ed Adams, president and CEO of Security Innovation. "We are proud to be a supporter of BoSTEM, and its commitment to deliver hands-on, quality learning opportunities, in partnership with out-of-school programs and corporate volunteers. We know how important it is for education and training to be immersive and engaging, which is why we are enthusiastic about the difference this program can make.”
