SANTA MONICA, Calif., April 02, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Saatchi Art, the world’s leading online art gallery, is proud to present a new solo show, “Nushka and the Feminine Form”, by the internationally acclaimed French artist. The online exhibition is available exclusively on Saatchi Art from April 2nd to May 7th.
In her most recent body of work, Nushka revisits the feminine form, weighing the precarious yet fruitful balance between the traditional and contemporary. Inspired by Old Masters, such as Bouguereau and Sargent, Nushka re-calibrates this classical artistic approach to art with abstraction and expressionism. Painting directly from models - often friends she has worked with for years - inspires Nushka to create figurative mis-en-scenes, honoring the changing idealizations of women and beauty throughout art history.
"Women are my inspiration for this collection, specifically the idealization of women and beauty. I reference master paintings by Bouguereau or Sargent and restructure with my contemporary approach, highlighting my models Julia, Chloe and Coline," says Nushka.

Nushka studied heritage and culture at the Paris Institute of Political Sciences and she pursued a degree in cultural management at HEC, Paris. In 2015, Nushka held her first solo exhibition at L’Oeil du Prince in Paris, entitled “Revisiting the Masters.” In 2016, Nushka returned to L’Oeil du Prince for “Detail Contemporain”, a solo show co-curated with Saatchi Art. Last year, she exhibited several sold-out shows with Galerie Schwab Beaubourg, Paris, Abcynth’Galerie, Lille, Galerie Lieve Lambrecht, Merendree, Belgium.
