Advantech Unveils Video Content Analysis Solutions and Other Technologies Designed to Enable the Next Wave of Filmed Entertainment and Content Delivery at NAB Show in Las Vegas

Leading global manufacturer of embedded, automated and ruggedized computing products, services and solutions to exhibit at premier trade show of the National Association of Broadcasters

IRVINE, Calif., April 03, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Advantech—a leading global manufacturer of embedded, automated and ruggedized computing products, services and solutions—is pleased to announce it will attend and exhibit at the NAB Show®, the annual trade show of the National Association of Broadcasters, taking place April 7 - 12, 2018, at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. A leading provider of powerful, commercial off-the-shelf video acceleration technology for live 4K, 8K, UHD and HEVC processing in encoding, decoding and transcoding applications, Advantech will unveil for the first time its VEGA-4000 series for video content analysis. This reconfigurable and easily scalable machine learning solution for video such as user-generated content enables the next wave of filmed entertainment and content delivery across all digital platforms.

"Advantech is proud to showcase an exciting new lineup of deployable ready video products and embedded solutions at the world's largest event where ground-breaking technology is unveiled, innovative solutions are displayed and game-changing trends are exposed," says Hayden Thomas, Advantech's key account manager for video. "As the need for video ingest, processing, storage and distribution skyrockets, media companies are considering the use of cloud technologies. On the forefront of a remarkable new era, Advantech video platforms combine best broadcast and IT practices to efficiently scale performance of high-density media applications while bringing data center efficiencies to the future IP (internet protocol) video infrastructure."

Advantech will unveil its latest products, solutions and technologies that are significantly impacting content—from creation to consumption:

  • VEGA-4000 Series (Video Intelligence and Analytics): As user-generated video content becomes more and more pervasive, there is a corresponding service demand to analyze and classify this content in real time to ensure compliance to rules and to allow further innovative applications to be developed. Advantech's new VEGA-4000 series of reconfigurable video intelligence accelerators can address this need with the development environment and hardware assist necessary for deploying advanced and efficient neural networks, machine-learning algorithms and creative video analysis applications. The VEGA-4000 and VEGA-4001 are deployment-ready, with PCI Express adapters supporting Xilinx SDAccel and Yolo/Darknet-based applications in both Linux and Windows-powered servers.

  • VEGA-3304 (UHD/8K Live Streaming & Broadcasting): Advantech's VEGA-3304 is the first 8K, p60 HEVC encoding accelerator enabling real-time, professional-grade HEVC video processing, while consuming much less power than a software-only solution. To satisfy the flexible demand from the market, the VEGA-3304 series includes multi-channel support up to 4 -channel 4K for high density demand. The VEGA platform also brings significant density and time-to-market benefits to a wider range of 4K, 8K, virtual reality and 360° video applications for the broadcasting, mobile, medical and transportation markets, as well as many other industries.

  • VEGA-3318 (Accelerated Video Cloud): Advantech's award-winning transcoder, the VEGA-3318 is the world’s first commercial off-the-shelf video accelerator able to perform low-latency, professional-grade 8 - channel 4Kp60 HEVC transcoding in an ultra-low power PCI Express format that can be integrated into standard servers via Linux API. Up to four VEGA-3318 accelerators can be integrated into a form factor 1 rack unit (U) server supporting up to 32 live UHD HEVC ABR streams per rack unit - the highest density available in the market.
