Canadian World Fund: Investment Update - Unaudited

TORONTO, Canada, April 04, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Canadian World Fund Limited (CWF) reports on an unaudited basis that its net asset value per share (NAV) at March 31, 2018 was $9.81, resulting in year-to-date and 12-month NAV returns of 3.4% and 16.8%, respectively.  These compare with the 1.5% and 9.0% returns of the benchmark Morgan Stanley Capital International All Country World Index, in Canadian dollar terms, for the same periods.

The closing price for CWF’s common shares at March 31, 2018 was $9.00, resulting in year-to-date and 12-month share price returns of 38.5% and 80.0%, respectively. On March 5, 2018, CWF announced that it had entered into a definitive acquisition agreement with Third Canadian General Investment Trust Limited (Third Canadian), a company under common control, which would provide for the acquisition by Third Canadian of all of CWF’s common shares held by minority shareholders for cash consideration equal to 95% of the NAV, calculated and announced by press release on April 20, 2018, in advance of an April 26, 2018 meeting of shareholders to consider the arrangement. Share prices and share price returns from and after March 6, 2018 may reflect the announcement of this proposed arrangement.
