Karamba Security to Present at SAE International’s 2018 World Congress Experience, a Joint Paper with DENSO CORPORATION on ECU Cybersecurity Defense

HOD HASHARON, Israel and BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich., April 05, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Karamba Security, a world-leading provider of automotive cybersecurity prevention solutions for autonomous and connected cars, will present a paper co-authored with DENSO Corporation, which describes the findings of a joint pilot on how Karamba Security’s ECU hardening software protects against unknown threats at the Society for Automotive Engineers (SAE) International 2018 World Congress Experience (WCX18), April 10-12 at the Cobo Center in Detroit, Michigan.

Mitigating Unknown Cybersecurity Threats in Performance Constrained Electronic Control Units,” will be presented on Tuesday, April 10th at 2:30 pm in Room 251 B as part of the Cybersecurity for Cyber-Physical Vehicle Systems session.

The presentation is a synopsis of an industry paper authored by Dr. Gopalakrishnan Iyer, Ameer Kashani, Motonori Ando and Masumi Egawa of DENSO, and by Assaf Harel and Tal Ben David of Karamba Security.

“Vehicle ECUs are comprised of millions of lines of code, which can introduce security vulnerabilities that affect consumer safety, when exploited,” said Assaf Harel, co-founder and chief scientist at Karamba Security. “We are thrilled to present the results and performance impact analysis of our joint pilot with DENSO that demonstrates how Karamba Security software mitigates cyber threats by automatically hardening ECUs according to factory settings.”

The proof of concept demonstrates that the shortcomings of traditional automotive cybersecurity solutions can be overcome, including zero-day protection and real-time threat prevention, while meeting native ECU constraints such as intermittent connectivity and low tolerance to performance impact.
