Argentine Energy Company Goes Paperless with Xplore XSLATE B10 Fully Rugged Tablets

Transportadora de Gas del Sur uses mobility solution to maximize worker utilization, improve logistics planning

AUSTIN, Texas, April 24, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Xplore Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:XPLR) today announced that Transportadora de Gas del Sur (TGS) has standardized on the Xplore XSLATE B10 fully rugged tablet PC across a number of business functions and workflows, including maintenance, production, and distribution logistics. The Argentine energy company is currently using the C1D2/ATEX-certified Windows® tablet to expedite the completion of work orders related to the maintenance of its widely-distributed pipelines. By end of year, nearly every workflow supporting the maintenance, production, processing, storage and transportation of its natural gas products will be solely managed on the Xplore XSLATE B10 tablet-based mobility platform.

“Prior to the Xplore rugged tablets, TGS’ maintenance technicians would have to manually print, complete and submit work orders. Loading-dock technicians would have to print spreadsheets detailing each truck’s planned delivery schedule and inventory and then manually input their vehicle and inventory inspection results along with any subsequent logistics actions. It was a very slow and tedious process,” explained Gabriel Catanzaro, gas products and measurements Leader at TGS. “Now, these technicians simply connect to the service orders via SAP and complete the digital forms in their entirety on the spot using the tablet.

The Xplore XSLATE B10 rugged tablets have already enabled TGS’ maintenance technicians to become more resourceful in the field. For example, the administrative work that was previously consuming 50 percent of technicians’ time, and requiring significant back-office resources, can now be completed in a matter of minutes, in real time, on the tablets.

“Xplore’s rugged mobile computing technologies make it very easy for large organizations such as TGS to transition to completely paperless operations without disrupting their day-to-day operations in the process,” explained John Graff, vice president of marketing at Xplore. “Once their Xplore mobility solution is fully online in all departments, TGS managers will have the real-time insights they need to coordinate and execute a number of complex logistical activities in a more time- and cost-efficient manner. At the same time, frontline workers will have the tools they need to fulfill more service orders each day.”

This streamlined process is also starting to eliminate the physical log jams that previously occurred at TGS’ production facilities. Logistics managers can now make transportation scheduling and routing decisions based on actual supply and demand of both gas tanks and delivery trucks.
