LOS ANGELES, May 01, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- On Thursday, June 7th, Plaza de la Raza, the nation’s longest operating Latino-based multi-disciplinary arts center will present its Annual Charity Golf Classic at the beautiful Montebello Country Club in East Los Angeles. This year, SAFNA Engineering & Consulting (a division of Heateflex Corporation) will be the title sponsor for the event along with the International House of Pancakes (IHOP). The annual event is an opportunity for members of the community to enjoy a morning round of golf with friends and co-workers, followed by a luncheon on the grounds, serenaded by the Plaza Mariachi Juvenil, the student youth mariachi ensemble from the award-winning after school program, Plaza’s School for the Performing and Visual Arts.
“With arts education being heavily impacted by the public school system in the Los Angeles region, Plaza de la Raza provides inner-city youth with the opportunity to have access to year-round arts education. All proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit Plaza de la Raza and it’s after school program, which hosts over 5100 local students and children each year, most of them tuition scholarship recipients from the surrounding area of Lincoln Heights and East Los Angeles. 85% of the students are from families at or below the federal poverty standard of income, yet they attend classes in music, art, theatre and dance throughout the year, including a summer school session.
