The company will be increasing their current Omaha Metro fiber footprint of over 300 miles to serve additional business customers with Internet, Ethernet, and traditional and cloud-based voice offerings. Other projects include fiber expansion to serve additional business customers in the areas of Fremont and Imperial, Nebraska. Residential plans include expansion in several rural Nebraska communities including Arnold, Imperial, North Bend, Page, Ponca, Rushville, and Wynot, as well as routine maintenance projects.
In 2017 Great Plains Communications continued to improve their network by achieving MEF Carrier Ethernet 2.0 Certification for E-Line, E-LAN, and E-Access services. They also executed a 100G packet network initiative and 100G Wavelength implementation. These improvements will help to solidify their network offerings as they move forward in 2018.
