Hillard Heintze Engaged as Independent Monitor to Help Advance the Organizational Transformation of the San Francisco Police Department

Multi-Year Contract Includes Independent Monitoring of the SFPD’s Progress in Enacting Progressive Changes and Establishing the Department as a Model of 21st Century Policing

Chicago, Ill., June 29, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Hillard Heintze announced today that the City and County of San Francisco has formally engaged the firm directly to provide strategic law enforcement advisory, independent monitoring and technical support to the San Francisco Police Department. The contract represents a continuation of the city’s and county’s working relationship with Hillard Heintze, which began in January 2016 under the auspices of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office) through the Collaborative Reform Initiative for Technical Assistance program. Since the report’s public release on October 12, 2016, the city, county and police department have been systematically enacting many of the report’s 272 recommendations.

“Hillard Heintze has a deep and longstanding commitment to San Francisco and its police department,” said Arnette Heintze, the firm’s founder and Chief Executive Officer. “It is an honor to be formally engaged to help this iconic city continue to establish the hallmarks of a model, progressive police department. It is very meaningful to us – to every member of our team – to help accelerate the department’s transformation.”

Hillard Heintze will be submitting an Interim Progress Report on the Organizational Transformation of the San Francisco Police Department in late 2018 and a Final Progress Report by May 1, 2019.
