The State of the Contract Packaging Industry

C-Suite TV’s Executive Perspectives Live airs new episode featuring executives from the contract packaging industry at the CPA Annual Meeting in New Orleans

NEW YORK, July 12, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Executive Perspectives Live, one of the top online business shows on C-Suite TV, is adding a new episode to its lineup, featuring Tim Koers, President, Contract Packaging Association and COO, The Visual Park Group, Vicky Smitley, Immediate Past President, CPA and VP of Sales, Hearthside Foods, Chris Nutley, Past President, CPA and President, MSW Packaging and John Mazelin, Past President, CPA and VP of Business Development, Accu-Tec.

Host Jeffrey Hayzlett sat down with the executives to talk about the state of the contract packaging industry, its past, and how they see the future of the industry going. In itself, the industry is seen as an efficient one due to the training the workers who operate machinery have to go through. Since they train at a very high level, each business can have a quick turnaround time and can manufacture their products in a high quality way. Mazelin said, “Our value proposition is flexibility. We’re efficient on time management and people.”

Like everything else, this industry has seen its fair share of changes. In the last two decades, we have seen ‘mom & pop’ shops transform into billion dollar companies. Yet, that hasn’t been the biggest shift. That can be attributed to changes in customer behaviors, access to the shared economy, and the speed in which items go to market. The change in consumer habits are forcing companies to adapt as consumers want “faster, more, better.”

Overall, the packaging industry might be perceived as lacking one thing: millennials. One thing executives would like to see implemented within the next five years is a youth infusion. Smitley said, “We need youth to show us the way.” They agreed that millennials are creative and independent and that creativity is the engine that drives the industry and will continue to propel it into the future.

All episodes of Executive Perspectives Live are hosted by Jeffrey Hayzlett and can be seen throughout the month on C-Suite TV.

Best-selling author, speaker, and former Fortune 100 CMO Jeffrey Hayzlett created C-Suite TV to give top-tier business executives a forum for sharing thought-provoking insights, in-depth business analysis, and their compelling personal narratives.

“Doing this interview was a throwback for me. As someone who started out in the printing industry, I had a front row seat to everything that has been taking place within the industry to innovate, adapt and thrive,” Hayzlett said. “As consumers find themselves more often in the driver’s seat, companies need to keep up or risk losing them. The packaging industry is no exception.”
