GTB’s “Impact Week” to support local communities on a global scale

Dearborn, Mich, Aug. 20, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- GTB, a leading global advertising and communications agencythat is part of the WPP group (NYSE:WPP), will conduct its first-ever “Impact Week,” an agency-wide initiative to give back to the metro-Detroit community and beyond, August 20-24.

An ongoing supporter of both international and local organizations, GTB has partnered with multiple community-led organizations in order to contribute to the rebuilding of Detroit, which is experiencing a renaissance but where nearly 36% of the population still live below the poverty line.  In addition, the initiative also supports kids from Detroit Public Schools with a backpack and school supply drive organized by GTB’s summer interns.  In all, GTB will donate more than 2,500 hours to the communities of metro Detroit alone over the course of a week.

GTB’s Impact Week also extends across the agency’s global network to its field operations throughout the U.S., as well as to Asia and Canada.   Its sister agencies -- including Zubi and Hudson Rouge -- as well as UniWorld will also support the collective outreach.

“We’re one global team working in fifty-one countries with the ability to make a real difference locally,” said Scott Kavanagh, global chief of staff and global chief talent officer.

As a global communications agency, GTB’s day-to-day role is to market Ford’s brand and products to an increasingly diverse consumer around the world.  “Giving back is very personal.  We’ve mobilized the entire agency around community causes while also giving our team the opportunity to choose what they’re passionate about supporting,” said Kevin Karolak, chief marketing officer.

Community service outreach in Metro Detroit will include restoring and beautifying neighborhoods; sorting and packing food for those in need; gardening and harvesting produce for the disadvantaged; and assisting at local animal shelters.  Metro Detroit Partner organizations include Chadsey-Condon Community Organization in southwest Detroit; Congress of Communities; Matrix Human Services; Life Remodeled; Volunteers of America; Michigan Humane Society; Friends of Detroit Animal Care and Control; Gleaners Community Food Bank; and Forgotten Harvest Warehouse & Farms.

Outreach around the world includes Heart to Heart, an organization in Shanghai, China that helps children with heart disease from less advanced cities; and Good Shepherd Centre, a men’s homeless shelter in downtown Toronto, which offers basic needs to the disadvantaged with an ultimate goal of finding clients safe, comfortable, and affordable housing.  Other community organizations in major U.S. cities are also being supported such as New York Cares in New York City by Hudson Rouge and Sisters of Missionaries Charity in Miami by Zubi.

GTB contributes widely to community causes each year; this is its first Impact Week.
