OAKLAND, Calif., Sept. 14, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- DASAN Zhone Solutions, Inc. (NASDAQ: DZSI), a global leader in fiber access transformation for enterprise and service provider networks, announced its Korean business unit DASAN Network Solutions has been awarded a contract by South Korean Tier 1 telecommunications operator LG U+. Integral to the path of delivering service in 1H 2019, this contract represents the first batch of carrier-grade M3000 ultra-low latency switches to be deployed in the first commercial 5G wireless network in the South Korean market.
Founded in 1996, LG U+ was the first company in the world to establish a nationwide LTE network with super high-speed services of the highest quality. The South Korean operator is furthering its global leadership into the era of 5G and IoT to deliver the best possible experience to its customers. Since September 2017, LG U+ has been developing its 5G offering with two preferred suppliers including DZS to verify design and performance of equipment ahead of launching new services.
The DZS M3000 switch collects the data traffic of 5G wireless base stations and connects them to wired broadband infrastructure at 100Gbps. The result is 46 times greater volume of data traffic that is delivered 10 times faster than today’s LTE networks. Regarded as core equipment for supporting 5G network operations and advancement, the DZS solution delivers these new levels of capacity and performance while remaining within the same physical size and power consumption budget of prior-generation equipment.
This DZS transport switch is also equipped with segment routing, a next-generation core network technology that analyzes and adjusts the traffic path for each service to simplify network operations, facilitate interoperability, and respond to future technology advances. In addition, the DZS solution also includes Software Defined Network (SDN) technology with network slicing capabilities to divide traffic of various characteristics into multiple virtual networks for enhanced efficiency of traffic differentiation processing to guarantee quality of service.
