WABCO Signs Strategic Agreement with RIO, TRATON GROUP’s Groundbreaking Digital Arm; RIO to integrate WABCO’s Advanced Fleet Solutions into its Digital Supply Chain Ecosystem

BRUSSELS, Belgium and HANNOVER, Germany, Sept. 19, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- WABCO Holdings Inc. (NYSE: WBC) (www.wabco-auto.com), the leading global supplier of braking control systems and other advanced technologies that improve the safety, efficiency and connectivity of commercial vehicles has signed a strategic agreement with RIO, the groundbreaking digital brand of global commercial vehicle manufacturer, the TRATON GROUP. Under the agreement, RIO will leverage WABCO’s advanced Fleet Management Solutions (FMS) within its fast-growing cloud-based connectivity environment to support the European logistics industry.

This important agreement extends WABCO’s FMS portfolio into a fully digital, cloud-based open platform for freight transport that supports all brands of truck. RIO, which is rapidly expanding its customer base across Europe, matches leading suppliers with the best tailored solutions to support fleets and enable them to “pick and choose” from a broad range of cutting-edge digital tools.

WABCO’s advanced FMS solutions will interface with RIO’s partners and will be available to RIO customers in early 2019. Specifically, RIO will integrate WABCO’s TX-SOCIAL™ which analyzes and manages tachograph and driver recorded data as well as TX-TRAILERPULSE™, an innovative and cost-efficient trailer-specific telematics solution.

Further extending WABCO’s advanced FMS capabilities, this important new agreement represents the latest step in WABCO’s acceleration of its industry partnerships. This includes recent agreements with a leading Indian original equipment manufacturer and a major global trailer builder.

“We are proud to partner with RIO and look forward to an exciting new collaboration, the first ever integration of WABCO’s advanced FMS solutions into an open cloud-based logistics portal serving the transport industry. This is a major milestone which harnesses the power of our respective digital capabilities and will serve to drive differentiating efficiency for the European transport logistics market,” said Nick Rens, WABCO President, Aftermarket, Digital Customer Services, Trailer and Off Highway Division.

“Fleets are increasingly looking to better integrate and simplify the latest digital tools to drive greater operational efficiency. This pioneering partnership will help empower fleets to be more competitive in an increasingly digital world,” added Rens.

“We are serving customers who are steadily demanding an all-in-one ecosystem to enable them to operate efficiently with the support of a selected number of tools – all bookable in the self-service Marketplace,” said Jan Kaumanns, RIO’s Chief Executive Officer. “To achieve that, we are always on the lookout for ‘Best of breed’ partners. WABCO’s experience in truck and trailer telematics combined with RIO’s advanced connectivity environment will deliver a powerful brand agnostic digital service to fleets and have a direct impact on their overall efficiency. We look forward to many successes in our newly formed partnership.”

RIO’s ground-breaking digital connectivity environment will be furnished with some of WABCO’s newest, advanced FMS solutions including:

WABCO TX-TRAILERPULSE™ is an innovative, cost-efficient trailer-specific telematics solution that combines real-time track and trace functionality with additional trailer health and diagnostic information. Complementing WABCO’s comprehensive trailer FMS solutions, TX-TRAILERPULSE can be easily installed by the manufacturer or as a retrofit. Enabling fleet operators as well as trailer leasing and rental companies to better track, safely maintain and manage their assets, TX-TRAILERPULSE provides a suite of essential remote management functions without incurring the large capital investment of a high-end trailer telematics solution.

WABCO TX-SOCIAL™ is an intuitive administrative software solution which helps fleets manage tacho read-outs and social data. The software supports fleet legal compliance thanks to the automated driver activity and expense reports produced by the system and is able to easily export the data for controlling authorities. The solution further helps to simplify payroll administration.

About RIO
The TRATON GROUP has been providing an open, cloud-based solution for the entire transport and logistics ecosystem with its new digital brand RIO since 2017. RIO bundles digital services, interconnecting all the stakeholders in the supply chain for the first time through a unified information and application system that includes forecasting functionality. Historically it was often impossible to use data transparently in the transport industry because different stakeholders use different software systems that run as stand-alone solutions. RIO provides a shared solution which can therefore be used with any vehicle make. RIO won the 2017 Frost & Sullivan New Product Innovation Award in recognition of this technological innovation. RIO’s innovation laboratory X-Lab was named among the top “Company Builders 2018” by Capital magazine.
