OMS has been trusted by leading North American retailers, distributors, food manufacturers, and suppliers for the past 20 years, and iTrade is excited to augment it with another valuable capability tailored to the Canadian marketplace.
According to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), the Safe Food for Canadians Act focuses on three important areas: 1) Improved food safety oversight to better protect consumers, 2) Streamlined and strengthened legislative authorities, and 3) Enhanced international market opportunities for Canadian industry. The SFCA Module is designed to tackle these concerns by specifically strengthening traceability functionality within OMS and improving import controls.
The SFCA Module safeguards the Canadian food supply chain by ensuring that products are shipped only from authorized ship-from locations, such as warehouses and packhouses, where adequate documentation and safety protocols are in place. “It allows retailers to have control of where specific items may be shipped from per vendor,” says OMS Project Manager, Christian Freeman. “It allows the retailer to have better visibility from where items are shipped, and if an approved shipping warehouse migrates to a new region, it enforces the retailer to inspect the new location prior to approval on future purchase orders.”
